Make a magnifying glass with a search game

22.01.2026

When you look at a busy picture from a distance, you often only see areas of colour instead of details. To see the details, you need to get closer. The best way to do this is with a magnifying glass. These craft instructions show you how to make a simple magnifying glass out of paper, which doesn't actually magnify anything but still allows you to see the small details. There's so much to discover on the City Life floor puzzle!

To make your magnifying glass, you will need:

Here's how it works:

  1. First, print out the magnifying glass template.
  2. Then you paint your magnifying glass in bright colours.
  3. Then stick the paper onto sturdy cardboard.
  4. Cut out your magnifying glass last. An adult may be able to help with the inside of the magnifying glass.

Your paper magnifying glass is now ready for you to use to search for special details.

Three pages to download with instructions for making a paper magnifying glass, including a template. Plus a search game on a hidden object picture.
