This lively game of swimming fun is good for colour perception.
Age: 4 +
Players: 2 to 4
Contents: 4 wooden hedgehogs
4 baskets
16 wooden corks
1 wooden playing
board
1 dice with 1-3
The new swimming course is about to begin and the four little hedgehogs can hardly wait to start. Luckily, it’s still warm outside. The other friends are in the lake already.
As hedgehogs cannot use normal swim rings, they have to collect cork
first to make a swimming aid. Only then will they be able to take part in the
swimming course.
The other animals have already diligently collected cork, which they have left in 4 baskets beside the path.
So, off they go. Each one wants to be the first to have his swim ring
ready and to jump into the water to join the others.
Aim of the Game:
Each hedgehog tries to collect his four corks as
quickly as possible and return to his jetty.
Game preparation:
Before the game begins, the corks are put into the
baskets, whereby each basket holds only one colour of cork. The 4 baskets are
now placed on the centres of the outside edges of the
playing board, each on the colour corresponding to the colour of the corks it
holds.
Each child picks a hedgehog in his/her favourite
colour and puts him into the corner of the same colour on the playing board.
The game can begin now!
How to Play:
The youngest child throws the dice and moves his/her
hedgehog one, two or three places forwards, depending on the number that
comes up on the dice.
If you land on a place directly in front of a basket
of corks, you can take a cork and put it on one of your hedgehog’s spines. It
is now
the next player’s turn. You can decide yourself
whether you wish to go right or left to collect your corks.
Each hedgehog must collect a total of four different
coloured corks. Only then may he return to his jetty and jump immediately into
the
water.
Several hedgehogs may stand on the same place.
Sometimes a wind builds up over the lake. If you land
on “wind”, you must twirl the weather vane in the centre of the playing board.
The segment the vane points to tells you what to do
next:
tailwind: move
2 places forwards
headwind: move
back 1 place
calm: stay
where you are.
The winner is the first hedgehog to put four corks, each in a different
colour, onto his spines and then stand on his own jetty.
Have fun collecting corks in spite of the obstacles!
