Toni, Steve, Franzi und Lucas live in small
brightly-coloured cottages in a beautiful idyllic village at the foot of a
mountain of gold. A tree which bears a golden apple every day grows on this
mountain.
According to the legend in this little village, anyone
who eats this golden apple can make a wish and it will be fulfilled.
Apart from that, the golden apple is particularly
delicious and the children love the taste of it. Not only the children love
these apples, the horses grazing on the gold mountain paddock do too. This is
why every child wants to be the first to reach the top of the mountain on
his/her horse.
As soon as the children get up in the early morning,
the race starts. Toni, Steve, Franzi and Lucas dash out of their cottages and
run as quickly as they can to the gold mountain paddock, where their horses are
grazing. In a flash, each child jumps up on his/her horse and takes off along
the route to the top of the mountain of gold. Even from afar the golden apple
can be seen gleaming in the sun.
But it’s a steep and difficult climb to
the top and so the horses have to be allowed frequent breaks to take a drink.
Who’ll be the first to make it to the
top of the mountain of gold and enjoy the golden apple? And what will (s)he
wish for?
Aim of the Game:
The winner is the first to climb the
mountain of gold on his/her horse and get the golden apple.
Game Preparation:
Before beginning the game, the horses
are placed in the paddock, each rider is put into the cottage of the same
colour and the golden
apple is placed on the wood-coloured
field on the mountain of gold.
How to Play:
The game can begin now. The youngest
player throws the dice. Depending on the colour thrown, (s)he places his/her rider
on the next
square of that colour along the route.
It is now the next player’s turn.
To leave the path and enter the paddock
to go to your horse, you must throw the colour green. If your rider is standing
on a red square
for example and the green colour comes
up on the dice, you may go directly to your horse in the paddock; however if
your rider is
standing on the last square on the path,
you may throw the dice 3 times.
On reaching the meadow, the rider mounts
the horse of the same colour and sets off on the route to the golden apple.
When a horse
reaches a blue square with water or a
field with a flower, he takes a short rest and the rider must miss a turn to
let his/her horse drink
or eat.
When a rider catches up with another
rider and lands on the same square, the rider he has caught up with must go
back to the
meadow and begin the climb uphill all
over again. The winner is the first to reach the red field with the golden
apple.
Have fun with
the exciting race for the golden apple!
