Yahoo! The tree house is ready at last. Lea and her brother Tom and also their friends from the neighbourhood, can still hardly wait. For
days they have measured, sawed and hammered with Dad’s help in order to build the tree house in the big fork of the branch of the old
cherry tree.
They are particularly happy that their parents inside the family house have hardly any view of the tree house as soon as the ladders are
pulled up. There is even a little lift, that is a basket, which is pulled up with a rope and then let down again.
Lea
and Tom have invited two children from the neighbourhood and together they have
a lot of fun celebrating the move into the tree
house.
Each
child brings 5 things. There are so many things to carry up! Food, drinks, toys
and of course tools to do some improvement jobs on
the
inside of the tree house.
Will
they be able to pull up the objects in the basket every so often so that they
can soon start the housewarming party in the tree house.
Aim
of the game: Which
child will be the first to find the 5 objects (s)he brought and pull them up
into the tree house?
Game
Preparation: Before
the game can begin, the tree house has to be assembled. (see picture)
The rope
ladders are then hung into the holes provided for that purpose.
How
to Play: Each
child now selects a playing piece and puts it directly under a ladder. Each
playing piece owns 5 objects on wooden discs.
The wooden
discs are mixed and spread face down around the tree house.
The
youngest child begins the game by upturning one of the discs and if the colour
of the object matches the playing piece (s)he has chosen, (s)he may keep the
disc. If the colour is not the same, the disc is placed face down again. Each
child puts the discs collected in the same colour as his/her playing piece down
in front of him/her.
It
is now time to throw the dice.
If
the dice shows one or more rungs of the ladder, the playing piece can be moved
up one or more rungs accordingly. As the playing piece
moves
up, it takes one object up with it. If no object has been found, it is not
necessary to move the playing piece up.
If the dice
thrown shows a basket with the “arrow inside”, you can put as many objects as
you like into the basket.
If the dice
shows the bucket with ”arrow upwards”, the bucket is pulled up, regardless of
whether or not there are objects inside it.
If there
are objects in the bucket, these are put into the tree house and the basket is
lowered again immediately. It is also lowered again immediately if there are no
objects in the basket.
If the dice
shows the tree house, the playing piece may go into the tree house immediately
regardless of whether or not it is on the ladder. An object can be taken up
along with the playing piece.
The basic
rule is that as soon as a playing piece has reached the tree house, an object
which goes with the playing piece can be placed in the tree house.
The playing
piece is then brought down again immediately and placed in front of the ladder.
The winner
is the first child to bring all his/her 5 objects into the tree house.
Have a lot
of fun with this merry climbing game!
